You can bask in the sun for almost 300 days a year - from June to November - and enjoy swimming in the crystal clear, warm waters. Spring temperatures average 16°C and in summer the Mediterranean heats up to a balmy 27°C. Plus, Gozo's allows for flexibility - if the wind picks up in one area, you can easily move along the coast and find a quiet spot.
Gozo is perfect for both a peaceful retreat and an action-packed holiday.
Welcome to Ramla il-Ħamra, Gozo and Malta's best beach!
With its wide stretch of red sand, it's the perfect place for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. The area around the beach is beautifully unspoilt, with a couple of cafes and food stalls just a short distance away. The sand dunes are protected, while the valley leading down to the bay is lush and flourishing. Its terraced walls look like a quilt when viewed from the surrounding heights. Legends and history also abound here, with Roman remains thought to lie beneath the sand.
Explore it on foot from ix-Xagħra or in-Nadur, both nearby!
Ix-Xlendi Bay is an excellent place for swimming, snorkelling and diving! Its sandy beach extends into shallow waters that are perfect for everyone, young and old. For the more adventurous, the long stretch of rocky coastline that borders the beach offers a delightful challenge to swim and snorkel in deeper waters. Its reef formations also make it a great spot for beginners.
Ix-Xlendi is also a typical Gozitan fishing village with many great restaurants, bars and hotels to choose from.
Discover the secret beauty of Gozo's northern part, Wied Il-Ghasri. The picturesque bay is encircled by striking stone cliffs and leads to a pebbled beach. When the sea is still, the water clarity is spectacular, making the perfect setting for swimming and snorkelling. For those who dive, you'll be delighted by the many underwater caves.
Wied Il-Ghasri is located near Zebbug and can be reached by car or a 25-minute walk (1.5 km) to the bay's car park.
Nestled between the northern cliffs of Gozo, not far from in-Nadur, lies Daħlet Qorrot Bay - a small but beautiful cove. Here you'll find a pebble beach for swimming, as well as a quay and cliffs on either side that lead straight into the crystal clear waters. This paradise is home to some local fishermen who have settled in the caves at the foot of the cliffs, using them as boathouses and to store their fishing gear. If you take a trip here, you might see them mending their nets or repairing their vibrant boats to keep them afloat.
